STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

How do you edit text in a PDF?

Changing PDF text, adding comments, and recognizing scanned text are different tasks. Identify your document type first.

  1. Check whether text is selectable

Image-only scans may require OCR first.

  2. Open the area for editing

Select the relevant text or object in a capable PDF editor.

  3. Edit content and formatting

Check fonts, line breaks, and overflowing text boxes.

  4. Compare the saved copy

Compare your saved changes against the original document.

This guide explains the general workflow in an application that supports the operation. This version offers file selection and type/size checks; it does not generate processed output.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about the workflow, file quality, and situations you may encounter.

Does adding a note change the original PDF text?

No. An annotation or note differs from editing the page’s actual text. Choose the tool appropriate to your task.

Why can’t I select writing in a scanned document?

The page may contain only an image. OCR is needed before its text can be edited.

Why does the font change?

The required font may be missing or unavailable for editing. Check characters and line endings in the output.

Why does adding a long paragraph disrupt the layout?

PDF text boxes have limited space. New text may overflow; inspect the box size and surrounding content.

Should I review the PDF after editing?

Yes. Recognition, layout, and formatting can change, especially in scans. Inspect the final saved copy.

Can I complete the operation and download a file on this page?

This version supports file selection and checks of file type, size, and count. Processing is not connected, so it does not convert, edit, or generate downloads. The guide describes a workflow in an application that supports the operation.

Which file types and sizes can I select?

This tool accepts PDF file extensions. You can select up to 20 files, with a 25 MB per-file limit and 100 MB total. Checking an extension does not verify that the file contents are valid or undamaged.

Are my selected files sent to a server?

In this version, file contents are not read or uploaded. Selections stay in the tab’s memory and are cleared on refresh. File names, extensions, and sizes are used only to display and check your selection.
