Frequently asked questions

Answers about the workflow, file quality, and situations you may encounter.

Which formats can I convert to and from?

You can upload MP4, MOV, M4V, AVI, MKV, WebM, WMV, FLV, MPEG, 3GP, TS and OGV. You can convert to MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG, 3GP and GIF, or to MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC audio.

Which format works on most devices?

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio plays on nearly all phones, computers, browsers and TVs.

Will converting reduce quality?

Converting re-encodes the video, so some quality loss is possible. Choose best quality and keep the original resolution to minimise it; a smaller setting trades quality for file size.

Can I extract the audio from a video?

Yes. Choose an audio format such as MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC and only the sound track is saved.

Can I turn a video into a GIF?

Yes. GIF output uses the first 60 seconds at a reduced size and frame rate, because GIF files grow very large very quickly.

Can I complete the operation and download a file on this page?

This version supports file selection and checks of file type, size, and count. Processing is not connected, so it does not convert, edit, or generate downloads. The guide describes a workflow in an application that supports the operation.

Which file types and sizes can I select?

This tool accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP file extensions. You can select up to 20 files, with a 25 MB per-file limit and 100 MB total. Checking an extension does not verify that the file contents are valid or undamaged.

Are my selected files sent to a server?

In this version, file contents are not read or uploaded. Selections stay in the tab’s memory and are cleared on refresh. File names, extensions, and sizes are used only to display and check your selection.
