Crop PDF

Trim page margins to suit your document.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

How do you crop PDF pages?

Adjust visible margins. Cropping should not be used to securely remove sensitive content.

  1. Choose the visible area

Inspect the boundaries of the area that should remain visible.

  2. Set crop boundaries

Define the area or margins in a capable PDF editor.

  3. Choose the page range

Check whether the same boundaries suit pages with different dimensions.

  4. Inspect the saved copy

Verify that text and edge content were not hidden unintentionally.

This guide explains the general workflow in an application that supports the operation. This version offers file selection and type/size checks; it does not generate processed output.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about the workflow, file quality, and situations you may encounter.

Is cropped content permanently removed?

In Acrobat, cropping hides content that can reappear when boundaries are reset. Sensitive content requires proper redaction.

Does cropping reduce PDF file size?

Acrobat’s cropping does not discard the hidden data and therefore does not reduce size. Optimization is a separate operation.

Can the same crop apply to every page?

Editors with page-range or all-page settings can apply it throughout. Check different page sizes first.

Is cropping the same as resizing a page?

No. Cropping limits the visible area; resizing adjusts page dimensions and is a different operation.

Can I reverse a crop?

Some editors allow margins to be reset. Keep the original and check how your particular tool handles cropping.

Can I complete the operation and download a file on this page?

This version supports file selection and checks of file type, size, and count. Processing is not connected, so it does not convert, edit, or generate downloads. The guide describes a workflow in an application that supports the operation.

Which file types and sizes can I select?

This tool accepts PDF file extensions. You can select up to 20 files, with a 25 MB per-file limit and 100 MB total. Checking an extension does not verify that the file contents are valid or undamaged.

Are my selected files sent to a server?

In this version, file contents are not read or uploaded. Selections stay in the tab’s memory and are cleared on refresh. File names, extensions, and sizes are used only to display and check your selection.
